About Matthew
Hi!
I'm an engineering student who genuinely loves math and physics, and I owe that to the great teachers I had growing up. They had a way of making everything feel possible, and that stuck with me. Tutoring is my way of paying it forward.
I bring real teaching experience, a lot of patience, and the enthusiasm of someone who still finds this stuff exciting every day. I work with middle and high school students (ages 11–18), and I make it my mission to be the kind of tutor who actually makes a difference.

My approach is simple: I don't just teach formulas, I teach you how to think. As an engineering student, I use math and physics every single day, which means I can show you not just the "how" but the "why" behind every concept. That real-world perspective makes a huge difference.
Every student is different, so I start by figuring out exactly where you're struggling and why. From there, I build explanations from the ground up. If one explanation doesn't click, we try another angle until it does.
A typical lesson:
We kick off with a quick recap of the previous session to make sure nothing slipped. Then we tackle the core topic, I explain the concept, work through examples together, and then it's your turn. I watch how you solve problems, spot where the thinking goes off track, and correct it in real time. We finish with a summary and a few practice problems to reinforce what we covered.
I've taught in a structured school environment before, so I know how to explain things clearly to younger learners without losing their attention. I'm also close enough to my own school years to remember exactly which parts of math and physics feel confusing.
These lessons are designed for middle school and high school students (roughly ages 11–18) who want to improve their grades, catch up on missed material, or get ahead before exams. Whether you're just starting to struggle or completely lost, we'll find a starting point that works for you.

Matthew was really great for grade 11 math, he explains everything clearly and actually makes sure you get it before moving on. He's super patient and easy to talk to so I never felt dumb asking questions. He also somehow makes math fun which I didn't really think was possible. Overall really happy with the sessions and would definitely recommend him.
