About Omar

I am a relatively new tutor, however in my brief experience with teaching I was told that I have unique and intuitive methods in explaining and breaking down tough concepts. This is achieved by myself having a thorough understanding of the subjects at the same time giving the student enough agency during the lessons in order to cultivate critical thinking skills and confidence of expression.

During my time in year 12 I participated in multiple charity organizations, among them was a program called Madrasati, where I went to multiple public schools in impoverished rural towns in Jordan where I taught Primary and early Secondary level students via alternative methods which proved to be very effective and enlightening for the students.

As physics was my favorite subject at school, many of my struggling peers turned to me when stuck on a question, in such cases I made sure that they understood the fundamentals of the relevant concepts, building on their understanding step by step until they were able to solve the question independently as I felt that I would have cheated them and myself by simply telling them the answer. This led to some of them getting higher marks than me on the next test!

About the lesson

My lessons would be mainly comprised of subjects relevant to the student's curriculum with some imperative extra-curricular information, such distinctions would be made clear to the student to avoid confusion. While most of the lessons would be focused on answering practice questions with an emphasis on understanding the very fundamentals of the theories first. There will be intervals where brief interesting documentaries or videos will be shown in order to maintain the students motivation if deemed necessary.

My teachings methods aim to transfer my personal passion for knowledge to the student, by including the historical and philosophical origins of the subjects taught and showing the unexpected real life applications that most curriculums choose to ignore. At the end of the day the subjects taught at school will be deemed as conventional knowledge in the student's later years. Today we live in an age where all kinds of industries and disciplines unexpectedly intersect each other, thus people who distinguish themselves are those with an extensive general knowledge that encompasses as many fields as possible, allowing for the seeds of innovation to germinate. This is only possible with a pre-existing passion for knowledge in all its forms, something I aim to cultivate in my students, and what better subjects to do so than in Mathematics and Physics.
