About Scott
I am a senior Aerospace Engineering student with excellent teaching skills and a strong mastery of mathematics and physics. I started tutoring math and physics students in high school and for the last two years I have worked part-time as a Study Session Leader for my university. As a Study Session Leader I facilitate learning and discussion for groups ranging from one to eight students. I have experience teaching math topics including geometry, algebra, pre-calculus, introductory through advanced calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. I have experience teaching physics topics including kinematics, forces, laws of motion, introductory to intermediate engineering statics & dynamics, mechanics of materials, and various Aerospace topics. I enjoy leading sessions because I am passionate about the subjects and I love helping others learn and succeed.

I am happy to teach group or single-student sessions for a wide range of mathematics and physics topics. My experience is with high-school and introductory to intermediate college coursework, and I have the subject-knowledge to lead sessions for students in middle school or elementary school. I approach single-student sessions by iteratively assessing knowledge and explaining concepts. This generally involves explaining the principles, steps, processes, and algorithms used to solve a problem type, explanation of an example problem, and assessment of student understanding through student completion and discussion of a practice problem. I approach group sessions very similarly, but group sessions also allow for greater group discussion. In group sessions I facilitate peer-to-peer learning in which students answer questions and explain topics for each other. Explaining a topic requires greater mastery than practicing problems, and thus implementing this peer-to-peer learning in group sessions greatly benefits the students.
