About Dr Muhammad

My philosophy revolves around student-centered learning, where the focus is on creating a supportive and broad environment that empowers students to take an active role in their own learning process. I believe that students learn best when they are fully engaged and motivated. The teacher's role is to facilitate and guide their educational journey. Currently, I am working as a Visiting Professor of Practice at CHME, New Mexico State University, NM, USA, where I engage with Unit Operation Lab courses and serve as an advisor for the AIChE student chapter. Additionally, I am available to work with students to perform demonstrations at outreach events. Innovative Chemical and Environmental Engineering professional with Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and over a decade of research and teaching experience. Specializing in biomass conversion, biofuel production, catalysis, and green technologies, I have a strong track record of publishing in high-impact journals and securing research funding. My interdisciplinary research focuses on sustainable materials, circular bioeconomy, and catalytic processes. I am passionate about advancing chemical and bioengineering education through innovative teaching methods and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Introduction & Context (10–15 minutes) : Outline learning objectives, connect the day’s topic with prior knowledge, and emphasize real-world relevance (e.g., how chemical engineering principles apply to energy or biomedical processes).

Concept Delivery (20–25 minutes) : Explain key theories with interactive questioning and visual aids (diagrams, simulations, demonstrations).
Application & Practice (30–40 minutes) : Students solve guided problems, conduct short lab activities, or work in teams on case studies.
Discussion & Reflection (15 minutes) : Students present findings or challenges, promoting peer learning.
Wrap-up & Feedback (10 minutes) : Summarize key takeaways, address questions, and assign reflective or applied tasks for reinforcement.

What distinguishes me is the breadth of my academic and international teaching experience, having taught across Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. This exposure equips me with cultural competence and adaptability, enabling me to connect with diverse learners. My dual focus on rigorous theoretical foundations and practical industry-relevant skills ensures students are prepared both for exams and professional environments. Moreover, my record of mentoring students across all levels—undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral—who have gone on to secure academic and industry positions worldwide demonstrates my ability to nurture long-term student success.

My lessons are tailored to students at different stages, including:
Undergraduate students in chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, and environmental engineering seeking to master foundational and applied concepts.

Graduate students pursuing advanced topics in catalysis, process design, energy systems, and materials science.

Community college students in general chemistry or pre-engineering courses who need accessible and engaging instruction that builds confidence.

Industry professionals or adult learners seeking applied knowledge in manufacturing, energy, or safety practices, often delivered through short courses, training modules, or workshops.
