About Mia
Hi! I’m Mia — a Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Science student at UniMelb with a strong academic background and a deep passion for learning. I’ve always had a natural strength in math and science, achieving an ATAR of 93.10 and consistently performing at the top of my class throughout school. I also studied under the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum while living in Singapore, which developed my discipline, problem-solving skills, and strong study habits from a young age. As a tutor, I bring a structured yet encouraging approach. I break down difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps and help students develop strong foundations so they don’t just memorize — they understand. I’m detail-oriented, patient, and focused on helping students build confidence as well as results. I’ve supported younger students in math for several years, both informally and in peer mentoring roles. I hold a Working With Children Check, and I always show up prepared, on time, and fully engaged. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, learning languages, and staying curious. I believe in a strong work ethic, consistent practice, and finding joy in learning — values I bring into every session I teach.

My goal as a tutor is to build not just a student’s understanding of maths, but their confidence in the subject. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching style to suit each individual’s needs—whether that means breaking down concepts step-by-step, using visual aids, or working through plenty of practice questions together.
I focus on helping students genuinely understand the “why” behind the maths they’re doing, not just memorise formulas. This makes it easier to apply concepts in tests and in real-world situations. I encourage questions, work patiently through mistakes, and aim to make lessons feel supportive, encouraging, and even enjoyable.
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes, but I can be flexible depending on the student’s focus level or scheduling needs.
I’m currently studying a double degree in Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Science at UniMelb, and I achieved strong results in maths and science throughout high school. I have tutoring and peer support experience, and I’m great at relating to younger students in a way that makes them feel comfortable asking for help.
My lessons are ideal for students in Years 7 to 10 who need help catching up, want to build stronger foundations, or are aiming to boost their grades and confidence in maths.

Great teacher, very dedicated. Provided me reports after lessons weekly on request so I can be involved in my son’s progress. Highly Recommended.
Mia is really smart and chill and she has like alot of presentations and teaching materials I can use when I study, shes really nice too, and she always checks in during the week if i have any troubles with topics at school and if i dont know how to do my homework she helps me in our class if i ask. Shes just really nice and helpful 10/10!
Mia provided lessons to my daughter during 2023. Certainly reccommend her, she really was able to support and motivate my daughter resulting in a stidy score of 40++! Amazing teacher! Thanks Mia!
Wonderful and polite tutor, very soft spoken and professional. My daughter is very shy and was struggling to ask her teacher for help in class, but felt very comfortable asking Mia. She clearly helped explain tough concepts like percentage conversions and helped my daughter achieve well above average for her NAPLAN. Will be having her as a long term tutor for my daughter!
