About Angshu
Hey, my name is Angshu Adhya and I am an Engineering student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I intend to major in Computer Science.
In high school, I was involved as a homework tutor for peers in math and English, and as a CS tutor for members of our Coding Club. Additionally, I lead free, virtual summer camps in coding during the COVID-19 pandemic through a platform my friends and I created- BayTutors.
I scored high on several AP tests, including 5's on AP Computer Science A, AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP Statistics, AP Biology, and AP Calculus BC, and 4's on AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics 1. I also scored a 1570 on the SAT.
In my free time, I enjoy learning new songs on the piano, playing basketball, and hanging out with my friends. I look forward to working with you!

I believe the best way for a student to learn concepts, especially in a STEM or test-prep setting, is to tackle lots and lots of problems. By practicing, you internalize the concepts being taught and train your brain to recognize patterns across problems.
For me, a typical lesson plan involves a warmup problem, going over homework, introduction of new content, and an end-of-lesson reflection. When working with students, I'll start off with a warmup problem to reinforce concepts taught in previous sessions. As I go over the warmup problem with the student, I'll do a recap of the ideas used in the problem and address weaker areas the student has with the content. If the student is learning from me as a supplement to another class, I'll also go over their homework for the week and address any difficulties they might have. Next, I'll teach new concepts and introduce related practice problems, which the student and I will spend the rest of the session working through and going over. Finally, I'll have the student write a short reflection about what they learned and any challenges they had with the material.
I genuinely love to teach. It gives me so much joy to see a student work through a challenging concept/problem and come out with a new sense of understanding and achievement. My goal is to make learning fun for my students and to relate what they are learning to the world they live in.
My lessons are catered primarily toward high schoolers and middle schoolers, especially those looking for supplemental instruction in math (Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus), reading/writing, and computer programming (Python, Java, or C++).
