About Britton
My name is Britton, and I am an incoming Mechanical Engineering student with a strong background in mathematics. Throughout high school, I completed math courses through AP Calculus BC, developing a solid understanding of algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus concepts.
In addition to academics, I have experience working with and mentoring others through sports and leadership opportunities. As a student-athlete, I learned the importance of discipline, communication, patience, and breaking down complex skills into manageable steps—qualities that translate directly into effective tutoring.
I understand that math can be challenging and frustrating at times because I have worked through those same challenges myself. My goal is to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. I enjoy helping others build confidence in their abilities and experience the satisfaction that comes from finally understanding a difficult concept.
Whether a student needs help preparing for a test, completing homework assignments, or strengthening their overall math skills, I am committed to helping them achieve their academic goals and become more confident, independent learners.

My goal as a tutor is to help students truly understand the concepts rather than simply memorize formulas. I believe that building a strong foundation and developing problem-solving skills leads to long-term success in mathematics. I encourage students to ask questions, think through problems step-by-step, and gain confidence in their abilities.
Teaching Method and Techniques
I begin by identifying the student's current understanding and any areas of confusion. From there, I explain concepts in a clear and straightforward way, using examples that match the student's learning style. I break difficult topics into smaller, manageable steps and guide students through practice problems until they can solve similar problems independently.
My sessions focus on:
* Conceptual understanding
* Step-by-step problem solving
* Practice with guided examples
* Test and homework preparation
* Building confidence and reducing math anxiety
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson includes:
1. Reviewing previous material and addressing questions.
2. Explaining the current topic with examples and visual demonstrations when helpful.
3. Working through practice problems together.
4. Having the student solve problems independently while I provide guidance.
5. Reviewing mistakes and discussing strategies for future success.
6. Creating a plan for continued practice between sessions.
What Sets Me Apart
Having recently completed mathematics courses through Calculus BC, I understand the challenges students face because I have been in their position not long ago. I know common mistakes students make and can explain concepts in ways that are easy to understand. My experience in athletics, leadership, and working with younger students has also helped me develop patience, communication skills, and the ability to motivate others.
I focus on creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions.
My lessons are designed for:
* High school students
* Algebra II
* Trigonometry
* Pre-Calculus
* AP Calculus AB
* AP Calculus BC (introductory topics and exam preparation)
I can help students who are struggling to keep up, preparing for exams, looking to improve grades, or seeking a deeper understanding of mathematics.
