About Louis
Hi!
My name’s Louis and I'm a Design Engineering undergraduate. Engineering is fundamentally about applying maths to real-world problems to find solutions. The principles I learnt at GCSE and A-Level underpin everything I do in my degree - I am continually practising and refreshing my knowledge. Outside of my degree, I love playing music and cycling.
Exams at school can be really tough. I believe the secret to success is to keep it varied and engaging. I also think that recognising and rewarding progress is a great way to stay motivated.
I've always found tutoring really rewarding - If you're looking for help I’d love to hear from you! If you'd like to know more about me, please do get in touch.

Everyone learns very differently. To me, effective tutoring is about finding out how the individual pupil learns best and adapting to best fit their needs. If a tutee is finding a concept hard to grasp, I approach the concept from different angles until finding one that is clear and meaningful to them. Sessions can be structured however the pupil wishes. Everything from going over fundamental theory to reviewing a class test is completely possible!
In my own learning experience, I have understood a topic well once I am able to summarise its critical concepts very succinctly. I am always happy to provide summaries of vital theory to tutees and/or help them develop their own.
I also think working through practise questions in a tutorial is a great way to learn, as it allows the tutor to identify exactly what aspect of a question the pupil is struggling to grasp. We can then review this aspect in more detail until the solution becomes clear.
