About Vikash
As a tutor, I prioritize clarity, confidence, and consistent progress. My goal is to help students not only understand mathematics but also feel empowered by it. I use a calm, structured approach that breaks complex ideas into simple, logical steps. Throughout each lesson, I check for understanding, encourage questions, and guide students through examples before moving on to independent practice. This ensures every learner builds a strong foundation they can rely on in assessments and future studies. My typical lessons run for one hour and follow a balanced format: reviewing previous work, introducing new concepts, practicing exam-style problems, and finishing with personalized strategies for improvement. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s needs—whether they learn visually, step-by-step, or through applied examples. My focus is always on building confidence and long-lasting understanding. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Chemical Engineering and am currently completing my Master of Engineering Management at the University of Auckland. My academic background and professional experience in analytical problem-solving allow me to explain mathematical concepts clearly and accurately. I bring both technical expertise and a supportive teaching manner to every lesson. My classes are designed for NCEA Levels 1–3, high-school students, and learners who want to strengthen their mathematical thinking, improve their grades, or prepare for future engineering pathways. I believe students learn best when maths feels clear, logical, and connected to real-world problem-solving. My teaching style is friendly, patient, and structured—I break concepts down step by step, check understanding often, and use simple examples before moving into exam-style questions. I also adapt to each student’s learning pace, whether they need more time building foundations or want to extend their skills for higher achievement.
A typical lesson runs for about 60 minutes, which gives us enough time to review homework, learn new concepts, practise together, and finish with targeted problem-solving. I also provide short follow-up questions or tips for independent study so students keep improving between sessions.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Chemical Engineering and current study toward a Master of Engineering Management at the University of Auckland. This background gives me strong analytical skills and a deep, practical understanding of maths. I’ve supported students through structured mentoring, technical problem-solving, and explanation-based learning in both academic and professional settings.
