About Ibrahim
I see the difference between tutoring and teaching as tutoring being more personalised to each specific student; tutoring is a way to plug the gaps in a student’s knowledge that they may have from the more broader teaching style found within school.
I believe tutoring to be a very rewarding job as it allows me to make an actual difference in the lives of the students I’m assisting. I find a sense of fulfilment when I can visibly see that a student of mine has understood a concept or is making progress from session to session and through their grades.

I have been tutoring A Level and GCSE students for nearly 5 years both as an individual tutor and as part of tutoring academies, teaching both small groups and on a 1 to 1 basis.
My approach to tutoring is to ask what the student would like to learn or improve on for that day or over a certain block of sessions and then create a lesson plan based off that. I aim to establish a rapport with my students in order for them to be comfortable around me so that they may discuss openly with me what they are struggling with. This, alongside establishing a timeline with my student, allows me to develop a long-term plan that we will implement to achieve the student’s wider goal, while also incorporating weekly progress checks to ensure that they are on track.
While teaching Mathematics and Sciences, I focus on exam technique and covering the content of topics that students are struggling with. Moreover, I place a great emphasis on attempting past paper questions throughout the session and especially at the end as it acts as a good progress indicator and also allows me to support the students in their approach to exam questions. Furthermore, I encourage my students to openly ask questions and I'm happy to go over content as many times as needed so that the subject matter may make sense. It is pivotal to me that my students understand why they are using the techniques that they are being taught so that they may implement them themselves in an exam. I'm happy to go over content as many times as needed in order for my students to understand. It’s not sufficient for them to simply memorise content but to be able to apply it as well.
Standard lessons usually take place over an hour but I will gladly go over this time limit if required and longer sessions can be requested. My lessons are open to everyone and I will happily take on anyone of any age and ability so long as they are willing to learn.
