About Louis
My name is Louis. I am 18 years old and recently graduated from a Montessori secondary school in England, where I completed A levels in double Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. I’m currently on a gap year and plan to go travelling in Asia before studying engineering at York, Durham or Cambridge University. I’ve always found it rewarding to help others understand subjects I’m passionate about. When I realised I needed a flexible job to support my travels, online tutoring felt like the perfect fit. It lets me meet new people while keeping my maths fundamentals sharp.

I offer 1–2 hour lessons for students of any age looking to improve their maths or physics up to (and including) GCSE level. While I primarily tutor one-to-one, I can also teach small groups of 2–3 students. I have experience helping younger learners develop problem-solving skills and deepen their understanding of GCSE maths and physics, both in individual and group settings. For my A levels, I achieved A* in Maths and Physics, and A in Further Maths and Chemistry. As a former Montessori student, I understand the value of learning at the student’s pace rather than the teacher’s. My approach focuses on identifying each student’s individual needs and strengthening any weaker areas first. When working through a topic, I begin by outlining the key ideas in a clear bullet-point format. I then go through example questions step-by-step, explaining my thought process throughout. Finally, I give the student exam-style problems and encourage as much back-and-forth discussion as they need, continuing until they feel confident moving on.

Louis is a former student of mine. I have known him for 6 years. He organised and ran a series of 'introduction to chemistry' classes for some of the younger students. These were incredibly popular and I would say that Louis has a gift for both teaching complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way, and for connecting with the students he works with. He also offered learning support to a number of young people during his time at the school. He always prepared well for his lessons and again, helped by making tricky topics easy to access for his tutees. I would not only have no hesitation in recommending him but would go so far as to say that any learner who works with Louis will consider themselves really fortunate as he is a wonderful tutor.
Having known Louis all throughout his GCSE and A-level years, I can enthusiastically recommend him as a maths and physics tutor. He is organized, and has an admirable work ethic. Above all, he is gifted at explaining complex concepts in a clear and accessible way, and always remains patient and understanding. I am confident he will help his students progress, and not only that, but also find greater joy in their subject.
Louis is one of the most patient people you will ever meet. He is genuinely friendly and approachable. He is able to meet other people's frustration in a gentle and kind manner which calms them down and helps them to learn. He is a remarkably clear thinker who is able to see the crux of a difficulty, break down concepts to their simplest state, and encourage students along the way. And he is utterly reliable - you can set your watch to Louis.
