About Jake
My name is Jake, a native English speaker from Michigan. I have a 190-hour TEFL certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and approximately 6 months of teaching experience, equipping me with the tools and knowledge to effectively teach ESL.
Additionally, I possess over a year of experience as an in-person chess teacher for elementary schools. My Chess.com puzzle rating of 2170 places me among the top 1% of puzzle solvers, demonstrating my deep understanding of chess tactics.

- Fun curriculum-related activities to spark classroom engagement.
- The first day will be all about gauging the students' learning levels. For English students I will use the ACTFL system, and for chess, I have my own proven system from when I worked as an in-person teacher.
- From then on there will be personalized lessons based on where the student was placed and what their learning goals are.
