About Ziyan (Zi)

Ms. Zi (Violet) holds a Master of Social Work from the University of South Australia and a Master of Science in Child and Family Psychology from the University of East Anglia.

With around seven years of experience in both illustration and teaching, Ms. Lim is passionate about nurturing creativity and making handwriting and lettering art learning fun, engaging, and creative for beginners. She encourages students to express themselves freely and creatively through handwriting and lettering and supports their growth with thoughtfully prepared, ready-to-print art practice workbooks or handouts.

In addition to her work as a tutor, Ms. Lim is an active contributor to the field of children’s literature. She writes and illustrates children’s picture books, art and design workbooks, poems, and other creative resources designed to inspire and entertain young readers. She has also collaborated with authors on various creative children book projects. She is committed to inspire learners to explore and develop their own handwriting and lettering style which then can be applied to their own creative projects.

About the lesson

Creative Calligraphy, Handwriting and Lettering Class For Beginners

This class is specially designed for beginners aged 7 and above, offering a fun, engaging, and enriching introduction to the world of calligraphy, handwriting, and lettering.

Key Features:

Available as private (1-on-1) or small group (2 to 4 students) sessions.

Interactive and engaging lessons using educational videos, stories, poems, books, and more.

Students will explore and learn about a variety of handwriting, calligraphy and lettering styles, including Cute Lettering, Decorative Lettering, Zentangle Lettering, Doodle Lettering, Folk Lettering, Brush Lettering, Modern Creative Calligraphy, and others.

Hands-on calligraphy, handwriting, and lettering activities include drawing letters, lines, and patterns using pencils, pens; coloring and painting with acrylic markers or colored pencils.

Class Schedule:

Choose between 8 classes per month (2 classes/week) or 4 classes per month (1 class/week) or 2 classes per month (1 class/fortnight), depending on your availability.

Each class runs for approximately 30 minutes or 45 minutes.

The first free 45-minutes free trial lesson provides an opportunity to discuss learner's interests, needs and goals, and to tailor the lesson focus accordingly.

Materials and Support:

Handwriting worksheets will be prepared by the teacher and printed by the students at home or at any printing/stationery shop. Art materials can be prepared and shipped by the teacher upon request before the start of the class. Or, the students can purchase own art materials at any stationery or art and craft shops.

Flexibility and Support:

Replacement classes can be arranged in case of illness or emergencies affecting either the teacher or the student.

For planned holidays, please notify in advance—classes can be cancelled and refunds arranged accordingly.
