About Elton
Hey guys!
My name is Elton and I study mechanical engineering at UFS. I speak English since I was 15 years old and I graduated from a language school at 17 years old. I have always been passionate about languages and during 2014 and 2015 I studied 2 semesters at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where I attended engineering classes with Americans. Soon after, I participated for 4 months in a materials engineering research group, composed of French and Americans, at the University of South Carolina.
During my time in Lincoln, I also participated for 4 months in a volunteer work called English as a Second Language, where I taught English classes for foreigners/refugees together with an American English teacher.
Here in Brazil, I've been teaching English for 2 years with a methodology focused on the specificity of each student. I also participated in the translation of several articles in the field of pharmacy, where I was able to further develop my skills as a teacher.
I really like to imagine learning a new language as a video game. Each new subject is a new phase for us to get to fluency. And each new phase can be stimulating, without leaving you unmotivated. It is notsupposed to be difficult and boring.
Just think: you speak your native language, a language with intense grammar, you communicate every day and put a lot of things into practice without even noticing. My goal is to make you achieve this independence in communicating and expressing yourself in English, even if you already have a medium/advanced level. I can assure you that this process can be light and cool.
I can assure you I will make you realize that learning English doesn't have to be difficult, shameful or boring. The process of acquiring a new language can be very stimulating and encouraging.
