About Lynda
I have helped many students achieve their goals in IELTS since I am keenly aware of the IELT criteria and the common problems that affect specific language groups as they attempt exam prep. Having empathy for the learner at all times, I am able to use my expertise in English language teaching to first build confidence and trust as a foundation for the learning experience. An example of this approach is evident in my teaching of pronunciation where the learner must be informed first that even though his or her language group uses two syllables to pronounce the regular past tense ver "waled", as in "walk ed", this pronunciation is not correct. However, despite the fact that the verb is mispronounced by many speakers, it can actually be uttered flawlessly by doing this; "soften /k/ and add /t/". My comment to the learner would be something like this, "Wow! Fantastic!" "This is a huge improvement that opens the door to getting the 6 band score you really want!"

I am very aware of the high stakes involved in obtaining a higher IELTS band score for immigration or college applications. For this reason, I try very hard to make meaningful connections with my students so that they feel intelligent, accomplished, and motivated to perform at their very best. Getting a good score on the exam means the world to the examinee. Many of my students have achieved their desired score and have reached out on social media to thank me personally.
