About Douglas
I've been teaching English as a Second Language for twenty years. I've taught along all age lines and in a variety of different cultures.
About five years ago I returned to learning to get my M.Ed and it was a great complement to both my past academic pursuits and my work experience. We need to keep learning to adequately address not only our needs but to remember how learners learn.

For myself there are two essential elements to being a great instructor. First create an environment that is comfortable for all. This requires that you listen and get to know your students. Continually demonstrate that you are there for them. Trust will follow.
Secondly it is the role of a teacher to self-evaluate their performance. What went well, how can I improve my role as an educator to better assist in getting the best from my learners.
