About Tutor
I am an experienced programming instructor and senior bioinformatician with more than ten years of professional experience using Python, R, Bash and Linux.
I especially enjoy teaching complete beginners, including people who have never written code before, feel intimidated by programming or believe they are not “technical enough” to learn. I understand that starting programming can feel overwhelming, so I explain each concept patiently, clearly and step by step.
I have university-level teaching experience and have trained students, interns, researchers and professionals with many different educational and technical backgrounds. My goal is to create a supportive and judgment-free learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and progressing at their own pace.
My lessons focus on understanding rather than memorization. I explain what each command does, why it works and how to apply the same reasoning to new problems. Through practical exercises and small projects, students gradually develop confidence, independence and problem-solving skills.
My main tools include Python, R, Bash, Linux, Jupyter and SLURM. I can teach programming fundamentals, data analysis, automation and command-line skills. For students with more specialized interests, I can also provide guidance in scientific programming, bioinformatics and genomic data analysis.
My professional background includes working as a senior bioinformatician at the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre and managing a university bioinformatics service platform at Université du Québec à Montréal.
Whether you are starting from zero, struggling with a programming course or looking to build practical skills for your studies or career, I will adapt the lessons to your level, goals and learning style.

I offer personalized lessons in Python, R, Bash and Linux for children, teenagers, university students and adults. My lessons are especially designed for complete beginners, including people who have never written code before, feel intimidated by programming or believe they are not “technical enough” to learn.
Each lesson is adapted to your current level, learning style and personal goals. I explain every concept patiently and step by step, in a supportive and judgment-free environment. You are always welcome to ask questions, repeat an exercise or take additional time to understand a concept. No previous programming experience is required.
For children and teenagers, I introduce programming mainly through Python, using age-appropriate exercises, logic challenges and small, engaging projects. Students learn how to think like programmers while gradually developing their confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills.
For university students and adult learners, lessons may cover:
* Programming fundamentals
* Writing and understanding your first programs
* Python and R for beginners
* Variables, conditions, loops and functions
* Reading and understanding error messages
* Solving problems step by step

Lessons are available in English, French or Farsi, either online or in person in Montreal.

J’offre des cours personnalisés de Python, R, Bash et Linux aux enfants, aux adolescents, aux étudiants universitaires et aux adultes. Mes cours sont spécialement conçus pour les personnes qui débutent complètement, y compris celles qui n’ont jamais programmé, qui se sentent intimidées par la programmation ou qui pensent ne pas avoir un profil « assez technique » pour apprendre.
Chaque cours est adapté à votre niveau actuel, à votre façon d’apprendre et à vos objectifs personnels. J’explique chaque notion avec patience, étape par étape, dans un environnement encourageant et sans jugement. Vous pouvez toujours poser des questions, refaire un exercice ou prendre plus de temps pour comprendre une notion. Aucune expérience préalable en programmation n’est nécessaire.
Pour les enfants et les adolescents, j’enseigne principalement la programmation avec Python, à l’aide d’exercices adaptés à leur âge, de défis de logique et de petits projets stimulants. Les élèves apprennent progressivement à réfléchir comme des programmeurs tout en développant leur confiance, leur créativité et leur capacité à résoudre des problèmes.

Mes cours sont pratiques et axés sur la mise en application. Plutôt que de simplement mémoriser des commandes, les étudiants apprennent à comprendre un problème, à le diviser en étapes faciles à gérer, à tester différentes solutions et à corriger leurs erreurs de façon autonome.
Mon objectif n’est pas seulement d’enseigner la programmation, mais aussi d’aider les étudiants à prendre confiance en eux et à comprendre que la programmation est une compétence qu’ils peuvent apprendre avec de bonnes explications, de la pratique et du soutien.
