About Malia
I am committed to providing individualized, effective assistance as a literary and writing tutor. I approach every lesson with professionalism and a passion for teaching, having extensive experience in both writing and reading. I place a high value on creating a friendly supportive atmosphere where students can develop their skills at their own pace. Alongside fostering a love of reading and writing, I think it's important to assist children in developing self-confidence. Since my sessions are both structured and adaptable, I can carefully accommodate each student's particular learning styles.

What distinguishes me as a literature and writing tutor is my capability to involve the students through interactive lessons focusing on critical thinking, creative thought, and effective communication. I am accommodating and custom-fit my approach to the age and interests of students from elementary to middle grade (ages 11 to 13). My typical lesson starts with a short warm-up, followed by reading comprehension exercises or writing prompts. I break down the subject matter into pieces any student can handle and always encourage the student to ask questions or voice their own ideas. I have lots of patience; I always want my students to see mistakes as simply learning opportunities. They are never chastised for making mistakes, only encouraged to learn from them. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs and learning styles of the student.
