About Isabelle
I have three years of experience teaching high school English, two of them in a DSST school here in Denver. I have worked with students at all literacy levels, with all language and SpEd needs, and myriad personal situations. I am a strong teacher when it comes to a tutor-like setting as well; while my teaching experience is mostly in a full classroom, lots of my work happens with small group or one-on-one tutoring sessions outside of class. My work, while much deeper than any data can prove, has the numbers to show for it: my student achievement data has consistently been the highest in the network, and some of the highest in DPS.
Currently, I am working as a musician, pursuing a dream I have always had. However, I miss working with students, books, and ideas. My schedule as a musician is very flexible, so I can easily work with students' schedules. I am self-motivated, reliable, and committed to strong learning experiences for young people.

I focus my teaching first on getting to know my students as people, so I can give them the support they need individually, both academic and personal. Secondly, I prioritize thinking over performing skills. I believe that students can see big pictures, ponder huge questions, and come up with brilliant ideas, but our school systems too often prioritize rote memorization and discrete skills. I know that skills come when brains are engaged. Finally, I make sure that learning is always fun. I am energetic and bring joy to my students.
