About Simona

I’m a professional, certified English teacher with a native Canadian accent. I’ve worked in schools such as Vanier College in Canada and on online platforms like Preply, where I specialize in teaching English online. I’m a university graduate and hold a TEFL certificate.

I’ve worked with students from all over the world, from teenagers to adults. What they often have in common is self-doubt. They question themselves and worry they’re not good enough, which is usually how it is before they get better. A good teacher isn’t just someone who teaches grammar, but someone who can see themselves in their students and help them see their own potential. Such teachers inspired me, which is why, since the age of 11, I knew this was the career I wanted to pursue.

When I'm not teaching, I do Irish dance, spend time with my cats and watch reality TV.

About the lesson

My teaching method is inspired by CLT and TPR, similar to how children learn to speak a language. I work one-on-one, which allows me to adapt to each student’s pace and needs. I believe all four skills matter: listening, reading, writing, and speaking, but speaking is the goal. Mistakes are part of the process. The motto is simple: the “I don’t care” attitude. I don’t care how many mistakes I make; I’m going to learn proper English.

Classes move step by step and include theory and practice. I use 'English for Everyone Level 1' and 'Grammar in Use', along with dictations, short writing, reading and listening out loud, tongue twisters, small conversations, crosswords, and similar activities. Homework is optional and always based on what we do in class.

The students I enjoy teaching the most are beginners. I’ve learned that perseverance matters more than age or experience. Learning English is like planting a seed. It grows with care and attention and becomes part of who you are. Beginners are special. Those first classes stay with us, and that’s what makes teaching meaningful for me.

I work with adults 18+ only. Lessons and messages are in English. Classes are one-on-one. I don’t conduct exams. I offer a completion certificate as a way to mark your achievement. These lessons are for A1 beginners who want a strong foundation and the confidence to use English in real life.
