About Alan
I've been tutoring for over ten years at all levels, grade school through post-grad. I've taught individually and in classes including elementary and up through the test preps (SAT, ACT, GRE), and classes of up to 40 students for the California High School Exit Exam (for Kaplan Education). Altogether I have taught and tutored several hundred students in groups and privately.
As for results, I'm currently rated 4.9 out of 5 at Wyzant Tutoring, specializing there in the SAT and GRE Verbal and Writing.
I get along great with students of any age, am good with kids who appreciate being treated as equals which is part of my caring and respectful style.

I have a B.A. in English and M.A. in Communications, both degrees from Columbia University, and I have many published articles, especially in the arts, healthcare, and politics (I'm versatile!).
