Dear Hiring team,

I am a graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder and have a triple degree in journalism, English, and secondary English education. I believe that I possess the skill-set and drive to be an effective tutor. I am interested in this position because my values strongly align with those of the position, and I think it is important to provide all people with access to equitable education.

I also worked for the I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder County, where I cared for and tutored first-generation eighth graders, who are majority bilingual. From this experience I have built on my communication and Spanish skills. This experience grew the compassion and drive for justice that I have for people who come from different backgrounds than me.

I volunteer as a college preparatory tutor at my local high school for first-generation students. This experience has also grown my oral/written communication skills. I just began volunteering at my local NAACP branch in the criminal justice reform sector.

I have strong written communication skills. I write for my school newspaper, the CU Independent. From this experience, I have learned how to write effectively and objectively.
I also ran the social media of the Honors Journal, which is the other journal I work on at CU. This experience provided me with public relations and marketing skills along with editing skills.
