About Maria Jose

Dear Sir or Madam, I am interested in applying for an elementary-level teaching position in your school district. As to 2017 graduate of Intesol worldwide, I have student teaching experience teaching English to young learners such as kindergarten, the first-second-third- fourth- grade-level, and High School levels in both suburban and urban school districts as well as online lessons and experience on Business English for professionals. I believe my teaching experience and passion for community engagement make me an ideal candidate for a teaching position at your school. I have experience teaching elementary-level students in a variety of settings. I am currently teaching first-second- third- fourth-fifth and sixth-grade children in extra activity lessons in Spanish and High school students in School Support. Your school emphasizes its unique position that centers in the availability and possibility of teaching English to a variety of different students that want to increase their achievements through the help of English. About the lesson

I use several methods of teaching English such as:
Direct method: This approach encourages direct connections between meanings or objects in the student's native language and English, without translation. Teachers and students use English exclusively in the classroom, with new material demonstrated through actions or images. - Natural approach: This method tries to imitate as much as possible the way in which a student acquires his first language. The natural approach competes for explicit knowledge of the linguistic rules of a language as not essential to the learning process. Therefore, the method places little emphasis on formal rules and grammar, since students acquire knowledge of the language intuitively and through experience. - A cognitive focus on academic language learning (CALLA): With its main focus on the content of the subject, this method teaches and develops academic skills in English if necessary. With these methods, I help students to normalize their procedure in English learning, which will facilitate the language.
