About Briana

As a passionate advocate for the power of literature and reading, I bring a wealth of experience and dedication to my tutoring sessions. With a Ph.D. in English and years of teaching literature and writing at various levels, I understand the importance of strong literacy skills at every age.

My experience also extends beyond the classroom, having worked as a content leader in multiple corporate settings where I've seen firsthand how essential literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills are in the business world.

I am so inspired by seeing students progress and gain confidence in their literacy and writing abilities. My commitment to continuous learning drives me to stay updated on the latest research and science about how children learn to read and write more effectively. Having lived in South America, I also have a strong background in helping bilingual students improve their reading and writing fluency.

On a personal note, I love traveling, reading, playing tennis, and spending time with family, including my two children. These personal interests enrich my life and allow me to connect with students on various levels, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel safe to take chances, explore their abilities, and grow their skills through positive, affirming interaction.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is structured and personalized to meet each student's unique needs. With a Ph.D. in English and extensive experience teaching literature and writing at both the university and high school levels, I am well-equipped to provide comprehensive writing instruction and support. I specialize in helping students not only with academic papers, dissertations, or research projects, but also with undergraduate and graduate school applications or professional materials like resumes and cover letters. For younger students, particularly K-3, I offer targeted reading support, leveraging my experience with bilingual students and a structured approach rooted in the science of reading. My lessons are designed for all levels, from elementary to postgraduate students, ensuring each session is tailored to foster growth and confidence in their literacy skills.
