About Clementine

Hi!

I’m Clemmie, an English BA and Psychology Conversion MSc graduate from the University of Exeter. I have completed 12 months of clinical volunteering with the NHS, and am currently pursuing a second MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences at UCL. After I graduate from UCL, I intend to apply for Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) programmes with the eventual aim to run my own psychodynamic psychotherapy practice.

Alongside my studies, tutoring enables me to share my passion for English and Psychology. Watching my students succeed, and knowing that I have played a significant role in their success, is also an experience I find hugely rewarding!

My Tutoring Approach
As a tutor, I:
* bring a positive, encouraging energy to every lesson to ensure you feel fully supported
* prioritise patience to make sure that you completely understand a concept before we progress. With this, I am effective at breaking down complex, daunting topics into clear, accessible information.
* adapt my teaching techniques to suit your unique learning style

About the lesson

LESSON FORMAT
Lessons are online and typically 1 hour, though the option to extend to 2 hours is available.

BEFORE THE LESSON
Please email me the specific area/s (e.g. speaking, reading, writing, listening) you'd like help with the day before the lesson. Please also give me an indication of your current English level, and if you wish, some of the tasks you'd like to practise. For example, you might want to learn how to engage in a political debate, give a presentation, or write an article. You can also send me a list of the topics you're interested in. For example, literature, sports, or entertainment.

THE FIRST LESSON (FREE, 30 MINUTES)
The first lesson is free and 30 minutes long *unless* you are looking for a one-off service (e.g. you need me to proofread a document). In this situation, the fee is determined by the amount of time the review takes (most documents require between 30 minutes and 2 hours).

In our first lesson we will discuss:
* Your academic (and perhaps career) goals
* Any academic challenges you’re experiencing
* Your learning style and the techniques we can use to help you succeed
* Scheduling
