Methodology

My commitment to lifelong learning is evident in my work and in my dedication to students. Having worked in education for well over a decade, I understand many of the challenges faculty face and work hard to create a collaborative environment that benefits the students, faculty, staff, and community as a whole.

In my facilitation, I attempt to inspire growth in students by giving them tools to take into other disciplines and continue learning outside of a classroom environment. Among these tools are a sense of curiosity, open-mindedness, and a thirst for knowledge. I carry this same approach to leading and developing faculty. In the classroom. I believe transformative learning is most likely to occur when students become engaged with the material and perceive the subject matter to be directly relevant to their own lives. Understanding the diversity of learning styles and student experiences is key to enhancing this engagement and creating long-term persistence in a program.

Background

Education is amazing! It provides opportunity and consistently improves reflection, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities; skills that create a valuable member of the world. Education allows people to excel and improve not only their own lives, but the lives of those around them.
Since 2013, I have taught English, ESL, Creative Writing, World Literature, and Public Speaking at the university level, and since 2009, tutored students in English and essay writing. Prior to that, I taught preschool and ballet for 4 years. I am a published children’s author, in addition to scholarly articles in the field of Renaissance Literature. I hold both a master and bachelor’s degree in English, and finishing my Doctor of Education degree. As a mother of 3, I understand the value of a strong education and see it as a vital tool in our every changing collaborative world. My goal is for each student to feel valued, confident, creative, and successful.
