About Maria

Let me introduce myself. My name´s María Inés Andura and I am both an ESOL and Spanish certified teacher. I am originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina where I taught English as a second language for many years before moving to the United States. My experience there includes public and private schools, IB and regular program as well as a private second language institute which I established, directed and maintained for the last 7 years of my residence in my country. I have worked with all ages and levels in teaching languages, making and maintaining lasting relationships with my students and their families.
I have embraced teaching in the United States for twelve years with measurable results and unforgettable moments in Spanish 1, 2, the IB program in the primary and middle school. In my twelve years as a teacher in PCS I have never received less than an effective score in my evaluations.
Through the years, I have become more flexible and resourceful in adapting Spanish lessons to different age levels. I taught high school, middle school and later primary years. I have recently earned a Masters´ in teaching Spanish K-12 in the University of Alcala, Madrid-Spain. At my present job, . I have created my own units of inquiry, aligned to the IB approach while teaching the Spanish standards both online (synchronous and asynchronous lessons) and face to face.
I enjoy working with my students and colleagues as a team and frequently share authentic cultural activities to assist my students in their language and cultural advancement. I am used to providing service to approximately 700 students weekly, supervising their work and formatively assessing them. I also have experience in administering both state and district exams. I am confident that my experience and constant learning will be an asset to your specific plan and goals.
Since the start of the pandemic, I have delivered both virtual and face to face lessons using the Canvas platform, Microsoft Windows 7 technology and apps. I am a good team player and enjoy learning and collaborating with my colleagues.

About the lesson

My lessons are interactive, fun and effective with plenty of authentic resources that will make you believe you´re immersed in the culture and language of your choice.
I will make the language comprehensible to you so that you will gradually feel more comfortable using it.
We´ll begin by stating your goals, figuring your mode of learning and work towards your success from the very first lesson.
