About Alex
I am a recent chemistry graduate from the University of Warwick, which has consistently been in the top 10 chemistry departments in the country. I've been giving support sessions to younger students since Sixth Form and I continued to do this even at University. Most of my 'students' say that they found my approach helpful and engaging. As part of my degree I have completed a summer internship at a National Institute for Environmental Protection and I have completed a master's in biochemistry, where I investigated the structure and behaviour of three proteins designed from scratch by my supervisor.

I am passionate about all areas of chemistry and I believe everyone can do it, given the right guidance. Throughout my degree, I had to pitch the level of my knowledge to all sorts of people, ranging from friends and family (who are mostly clueless about chemistry) to well distinguished professors. When it comes to my lessons, I believe that the most important thing is to understand the basics very well and from there, things start to gradually make sense. I always try to break down difficult problems into simple concepts, using analogies from everyday life (for example, a covalent bond can simply be described as the relationship between two friends who don't have enough money to buy sweets so they join their efforts to buy the whole shop). I also believe that no question is too stupid and I want my students to feel free to ask as many questions as they want because that's when you really learn something and make the right connections.

Perfect! made things very relaxed and comfortable and double checked that what was being explained made sense. I think with Alex help she will be an A student
- She seems very confident in the subject matters discussed and I think she just needs a bit of guidance and a slightly different approach to the subjectAlex's response :
