About William
I am a recent graduate of the University of Warwick, gaining a first class mathematics (MMath) degree and previously achieved 3A* at A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. I am truly passionate about the subject, and find teaching it just as rewarding. I have tutored Maths at GCSE and A-level in the past and during my gap year I was a volunteer teaching assistant at the local comprehensive school. More recently, I have been a supervisor for first-year maths students at university, responsible for running supervisions and marking assignments for two small groups. Also, during my time at university I was academic support of the Warwick Maths society, a volunteering role which involved helping maths students in lower years with a range of maths problems. I can tailor my tutoring to whatever the student wants help with, whether that be working in conjunction with their school studies, working through textbooks or past papers. There are many resources out there and I will use my recent past experiences studying for these exams to make full use of them! The student will be the primary focus of my tutoring lessons. This means that they will be catered to the student's strengths and weaknesses: spending more time on topics they find more challenging as well as using different teaching techniques and technologies to get a point across. As for me, having done a degree in maths, I'm very much aware of how frustrating and confusing maths can appear at times, especially when you feel you should understand it! Hence my approach to tutoring will be a positive one: encouraging students when they show signs of improvement and understanding but remaining calm and resourceful when not. During my first session with the student, I will get to grips with where the student is at in their study of maths, finding out which topics they are better at and those they particularly struggle with. From this point, there are numerous ways to go about the session. It may be best to go through a quick recap of a particular topic or get stuck in with some exercises; whatever is best for the student. Either way, I hope to make the experience as engaging and fun for the student as possible.

Being one of Wills previous tutees, I can safely say that he is a great tutor. He helped me to achieve an A grade in A-level maths when I was being predicted C's in my first year of sixth form. This is because he is always prepared for our tutoring sessions, is able to explain things very clearly and concisely (often times more than my teacher!) and most importantly helps me to remain calm when I don't understand something.
