About Rachel

I'm a current 2nd year medical student at Newcastle University. My main motivation for teaching is that I'm keen to keep speaking and sharing the language.

I am not a native speaker but have spent time in France and received 98% at GCSE and a comfortable A* at A level.

I have been through the UK system, so have an intimate knowledge of exam structure and point scoring.

My personal interests are in languages, cooking, art, ballet and medicine/the human body.

About the lesson

My lessons will be conducted as far as possible in French. Questions are encouraged, and if you have a particular interest in an area, I am happy to focus language learning around that topic (eg. Food, history, dance, sport).

Lessons will involve all key aspects of language learning- grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading and writing and speaking.

I also believe learning about culture is imperative, so interested learners at an appropriate level can expect to read French literature, learn about French heritage and watch French films.

Rachel is very friendly, reliable and knowledgeable about the subject. My Daughter really looked forward to their sessions. She felt Rachel was able to focus on the particular areas she was struggling with and make things easier to understand. Quote from my daughter" She seems to have lots of time, I really like how she explains things"

I think Rachel will be an excellent French tutor. They are a kind and patient person and would no doubt be the same with their students. Rachel is also very good at explaining how the French language works in easily understandable terms. I would definitely recommend them as a tutor for anyone who is either just starting out with their French or a more experienced pupil.
