About Joshua
I am currently studying Further Mathematics and Mathematics at A-level and have always had an interest in topics beyond the curriculum. Alongside my A-levels, I have completed online lecture courses in topics such as linear algebra, calculus and mathematical proof.
I have completed a mathematical research project exploring the extension of the factorial function, which I presented as both a viva and lecture. This experience developed my ability to communicate ideas more clearly, particularly when discussing ideas around convergence and monotone convergence theorem to students who had little mathematics experience.
I have experience helping and tutoring younger students in mathematics, and I understand that different students often require completely different approaches to a specific topic before they understand it. Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My aim is to provide a relaxed and patient environment by asking where a student has a gap in their knowledge and starting from fundamentals to solidify their intuition before approaching problems.

My lessons primarily focus on building a genuine intuition for a topic, followed by applying it to exam questions, rather than just learning a standard method without the deeper understanding behind it.
Lessons will typically last 60 minutes, although I am more than happy to adapt to whatever works best for you. I tailor each lesson to the individual, whether that's reviewing fundamentals or going over exam questions.
I currently study Further Mathematics and Mathematics at A-level, but I have also completed numerous courses on linear algebra, calculus and mathematical proof. I have completed an independent mathematical research project and presented my work through both a viva and a lecture.
My lessons are aimed at AS-level and GCSE students studying Further Mathematics and/or Mathematics, whether you want to improve your exam technique, build a deeper intuition, or aim for the highest grades. I particularly want students to become comfortable approaching unfamiliar problems and recognising the techniques they can use to solve them.
