About John Felipe

I graduated from Temple University at Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor's in Spanish and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems on May 2018. I have been studying Spanish for 8 years. On Spring 2015, I taught Hispanic senior citizens how to use technology and computer applications in a class of 5-10 students for a month, which led to better digital literacy and improved conversational skills about technology in Spanish and English. Second, I spent two months in Hungary and Slovakia, one month per country, teaching ESL in beginner and intermediate level to classes of 5-25 that range from Pre-K to Adults. As a result, students were able to have improved confidence and knowledge in doing English-based conversations.

About the lesson

My teaching method comes in four steps. The four steps are open discussion, modelling, guided practice, and authentic assessment. I provide my lessons to students ranging from elementary to high school students. In languages, I believe that the best way to learn to actually use it as if it is a real-world scenario. In addition, I help reinforce what is taught by providing music containing the language concepts, guiding questions, and differentiation. I believe that the best way to learn a language is to USE the language. I also believe that language develops better social competency for students.
