About Delores Freeman Cork

Although Delores Freeman Cork grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, many more years have been spent in Montgomery, Alabama, near Maxwell Air Force Base. Her B.A. from Judson College and M.A.T. from Troy University prepared her to teach college English, G.E.D., English as a Second Language, Reading, Bible study, piano, and organ. She has written eleven published books as well as magazine articles and poems. Her ability to write words phonetically, as demonstrated in her latest book, "Read and Speak Better English with Phona-text (What You SEE Is Exactly What You SAY)", published by Westbow Press, resulted from classes in Gregg Shorthand and Stenography for Court Reporters. Her first experience with emotional jury duty convinced her to NOT become a court reporter, but rather to use the ability to spell words phonetically to help struggling readers as well as internationals who need help with the pronunciation of English vocabulary. In addition to being called "teacher" by hundreds of students from 75 different countries, she has also enjoyed being the wife of one husband, mother of two daughters, and "Nana" of three wonderful grandchildren.
