It is very important to me to get to know my students so that I can create a more meaningful and fun learning experience. I recognize the importance of including speaking, writing, listening and reading activities in my teaching. I also value getting students' feedback and input about what will make lessons valuable and engaging for them.
For the past two years I have been working as an educational assistant at Danebo Elementary in the ELD (English Language Development) classroom. As an assistant, I prepare and teach English curriculum to small groups of students and individual students. I also have experience working with new comer students that have a very low level of English. As a second language learner myself (of Spanish) I understand that learning a new language can be challenging and it is important to feel supported. I have enjoyed encouraging my students and watching them learn and practice new English skills that will help them be successful in their futures.
