About Eric
I'm an aspiring financier with a genuine passion for teaching, heading to the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton (Ivy League) this Autumn to study business. Having tutored for several years, both formally and as House Captain at Eton, I know how much progress comes from patient, one-to-one guidance. My aim is simple: to help you understand the ideas deeply and approach your exams with genuine confidence.

Techniques and teaching methodology:
I prioritise genuine conceptual understanding over rote memorisation. Through patient, probing questions, I guide students to work through and truly grasp the material themselves — because once the ideas click, strong essays follow naturally. Sessions are built around past papers and mark schemes: we identify where marks are actually being lost, then work on it directly. In practice that usually means evaluation, since the bulk of the marks in the extended essays sit in analysis and judgement rather than in describing the scholarship. Knowing Aquinas isn't the hard part; using him to build an argument that goes somewhere is.
Typical length of a lesson:
One hour (flexible)
Qualifications and experience:
Predicted A* at A-Level Religious Studies (results August 2026) and a grade 9 at GCSE, heading to UPenn Wharton this autumn to study business. I sat the current papers this summer, so I know this specification and these mark schemes as they stand now. I have three years' experience tutoring English as a volunteer, and spent a year informally tutoring younger boys in my boarding house at Eton as House Captain.
Who the lessons are for:
GCSE and A-Level Religious Studies students of any ability, across OCR, AQA and Eduqas — whether you're building confidence with the fundamentals or pushing for that top A*/grade 9. I cover Philosophy of Religion, Religion & Ethics, and Developments in Christian Thought.
