About Isla
I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut and bring 6 years of teaching/tutoring experience, including 4 years of remote one-on-one chemistry coaching. I have supported students preparing for course exams, lab practicals, and advanced placement assessments, always focusing on clear conceptual frameworks and practical problem solving.

Chemistry becomes approachable when tied to real sensations: heat, taste, color, smell, and simple experiments you can picture. I begin with the particle picture — atoms, bonds, and energy — then show how those basics build into reaction patterns (organic ideas), energy flows (electrochemistry), and the chemistry of living systems (biochemistry). I include Food Chemistry to make lessons concrete: we talk about what happens when bread browns, why proteins denature with heat, and how acidity changes taste. Explanations emphasize cause and effect, helpful diagrams, and problem-solving strategies students can use in homework and tests. My aim is to make chemical reasoning second nature so learners approach college chemistry with confidence.
