About Tanya
I have been teaching mathematics at the high school level since 2003. I have supplemented my teacher's education with a master's degree in leadership and completed coursework towards a PhD in mathematics education.
I have been working in an inclusive setting for the past five years and have a great deal of experience working with neurodiverse students understanding the breadth of supports to select in addressing diverse learning needs

I teach with a learner-centred approach. My expertise is in high school math grades 8-11 although I am happy to work with lower grade levels as well. I am also open to working with neurodiverse students as my mathematics teaching is supplemented by experience in special education and inclusion.
A typical lesson:
1) I usually start with a puzzle or real-world problem which gives relevance/purpose to the topic.
2) Practice questions. If the topic is new to the learner I will offer a lesson. If this is a review I will assign questions for practice and guide the student as they work.
