About Amy Lynn
I have played the harp professionally for over 25 years -- which is my passion! -- and began the study of classical piano and music theory at age 7, continuing those pursuits at the world-renowned Oberlin Conservatory, in Oberlin, Ohio.
Having mastery of music theory and ear training has allowed me to create my own arrangements of hundreds of songs -- from the Renaissance to contemporary favorites -- for performances from concerts to weddings to Celebrations of Life.
It's so much fun - you can learn how, too!
The logical nature of music theory can be understood step-by-step, as you learn more and more why written music looks the way it does, including rhythm, note values, pitches, intervals, chords, and key signatures.
You will be definitely surprised how much sense everything makes as we go along -- and have fun, too!
I will assist you along each of those steps, and at the pace that works best for you.
I know your time is valuable, and I hold myself accountable to be on-time, so you can arrange your day around your lesson with confidence. Other than in the case of an unavoidable scheduling conflict, I keep your date and time specifically for you.

Discover a whole new world - music theory - the foundation and language of music!
A professional harpist for over 25 years, I am passionate about teaching, and thrilled to watch students enjoy learning about this fascinating field.
You might be surprised to learn that music theory is not "theoretical" at all -- it is actually quite logical!
I will assist you, step-by-step, in increasing your knowledge with more ease than you might imagine!
In our first lesson, we can determine what level is comfortable for you, and discuss what you would like to achieve.
Whatever your musical goals may be, I am open to showing you how a good grasp of music theory can help increase your knowledge and enjoyment of a range of musical endeavors.
I know that goals and ideas can change at any time, too, so I'm open to surprises!
Regarding learning music theory, there is definitely memorization initially, but gradually, as you understand more, the need to memorize significantly decreases, and the fun increases.
And as we add, if you wish, ear training, (including some "tricks of the trade" to tell how far away the next note of a song is) you will find you can begin to create your own arrangements, sometimes even "on the spot"!
I welcome all levels, from beginners to advanced, and young people to adults -- I remember well what it was like when I first began.
I am available for in-person teaching, which I prefer to on-line.
