Teaching Style:
My teaching style is rooted in the traditional foundations of Bharatanatyam while incorporating modern pedagogical techniques to ensure a holistic learning experience. I believe in a patient and nurturing approach, tailoring each lesson to the individual needs and abilities of my students.
• Technique: I emphasize the importance of mastering the fundamental movements, gestures (mudras), and footwork (adavus). Attention to detail in these areas forms the core of our training.
• Expression: Bharatanatyam is not just about physical movements; it's a storytelling art. I guide students in conveying emotions, narratives, and spirituality through their dance, helping them become compelling performers.
• Music and Rhythm: Understanding the intricacies of Carnatic music and rhythm (tala) is crucial in Bharatanatyam. I provide comprehensive training in this aspect to enable students to dance in sync with the music.
Lesson Plan:
Warm-up and Stretching: We begin with a warm-up to prepare the body for dance, followed by stretching exercises to enhance flexibility.
Basic Techniques: We delve into the fundamental Bharatanatyam movements, learning adavus, hand gestures, and posture.
