About Elyse
I’m an experienced accountant and finance professional with around 15 years’ experience working across accounting and finance, including senior finance roles.
One of the things I’ve always enjoyed most is helping people understand numbers that initially feel complicated or intimidating. I’m good at taking accounting jargon and turning it into normal English, and I particularly enjoy the moment when something finally clicks for somebody.
I’m ACCA-qualified by background and have worked with businesses and organisations across a wide range of areas, so I can bring plenty of real-world examples into lessons rather than teaching accounting purely from a textbook.
I’m friendly, patient and practical, and I’m very comfortable working with adult learners who may be returning to study after a long break or who don’t naturally think of themselves as “good with numbers".

My approach is all about helping you understand accounting rather than simply memorising rules and formulae.
I explain concepts in straightforward, everyday language and use practical examples to help make things click. We can work through topics you’re struggling with, practise questions, assignments or exam preparation, depending on what you need.
Lessons would normally be around 60 minutes and will be tailored to your level and goals.
I can support AAT students, university students and adult learners with topics including bookkeeping, double-entry, trial balances, financial statements, budgeting, cash flow and management accounting.
I’m very happy to go back to basics where needed - there are no stupid questions, and accounting usually becomes much easier once somebody explains the logic behind it properly.
