About Jessica

I am a student currently studying Business Management and Marketing in Nottingham. I have conducted both group, and 1-1 tuition sessions in 11+, Literacy and Numeracy for around 3 years now. As of a few years ago, I additionally took on several of my mother’s tuition clients, when she decided to down-scale. I have access to materials that I often use during sessions, and as homework to build on the skills developed within sessions.

As a result of COVID-19, I moved my tuition predominantly online to zoom, enabling me to continue providing sessions, enabling the continuation of improvement, and maintenance of key skills whilst schools were closed. I have taught numerous students with different educational needs, tailoring my approach uniquely to each individual, often working alongside their teachers via email-based communications, to strive for success and improvement and addressing the individual needs of each student. This approach instils confidence that transfers into the classroom, and outside of the classroom as individuals. I have a great passion for English, with A grade qualifications up to A-Level in it. I also thoroughly enjoy maths, and helping students to find methods that work for them that can be incorporated into the classroom setting is at the forefront of my approach.

About the lesson

I aim to provide students with the tools and confidence in their abilities to succeed, with support and strategies to help them feel optimistic in their capabilities. I generally provide lessons for students ages 8-14, however I am happy to tutor English beyond that age to GCSE.

I base my classes around building up the individual skills that can eventually collate to overall improvements and competency in being able to approach whatever student’s get faced with. I base my lessons around the curriculum, as well as building the skills necessary for Independent, Private or Grammar school entrance exams, such as (but not restricted to), the 11+, and South West Herts Consortium exam.

I approach each topic with students individually, recognising how best to tackle each subject in a way that benefits each student, so that they get the most out of sessions. Seeing pupils grow in confidence both in and out of the classroom, as they realise just how capable they are as individuals, and academically with a bit of extra support is what motivates me, and fuels my passion for helping them on the way to success.
