My Teaching Style: Compassionate, creative, and challenging: a mix of work and fun that my students walk away from feeling proud and accomplished. As a fellow artist and as an educator, I’m gender-affirming and experience-affirming: I make sure to build trust so that my students can create work that is true to them. Hi! I'm an art tutor with over 15 years of teaching artist experience and 30 years of professional sculpting and mask making design experience. I earned a BA from Queens College of The City University of New York and taught sculpting upon graduation. I love using my academic, art, and design experience to help my students improve their concepts, designs, and sculpting skills. I craft my lessons to build upon my student's unique personal interests and goals. I teach all ages, and specialize in helping students prepare portfolios for art school applications. I focus on helping to build a strong foundation of skills, especially portrait sculpting. I’m passionate about sharing my skills and knowledge with my students and seeing their confidence grow!

Mask Making and Design Program: Using clay, plaster, latex, and reference materials, you will progress from sculpting portaits to advanced techniques in mask building, including learning how create foam latex mask appliances that are used for Hollywood Films and other theatrical perfomances with step by step instructions and hand on techniques and with confidence. We will progress to color theory and painting with acrylics, oils, or pax paints, all tailored to your prior experience and artistic goals!

Art School Application Program: Highly personalized to your teen's needs! I guide your student through the whole art school application process. We will work together on skill-based art lessons, building up their portfolio, emailing admissions, tracking deadlines, photo editing, portfolio layouts, and arts-specific application essay writing. Students who need less technical skill-building will receive "desk-crit"-style feedback and coaching on their projects and intriguing, challenging assignments: real assignments taught at RISD, Cooper Union, SVA etc. Prep for the Cooper Home Test, the RISD portfolio and other top art college applications! Students will learn how to develop their writing skilla, self-expression, artistic concepts, and technical art skills with me; all while building their confidence.

Spring and Summer Sessions: I will create a custom-tailored program to aid your student in maintaining and deepening their artistic practice and skills in preparation for intensive Pre-College programs or the first semester of college. We will work together to improve their skills and expand their conceptual abilities. I help my students prepare the technical and the conceptual thinking skills required of them at top art schools so they can feel prepared and excited at every step of their artistic journey.

I offer 1 hour lessons to 3 hour lessons with care and individual attention! During these lessons, we will review your goals and existing artwork and then work on a lesson tailored to your needs.
