About Dan

Working with young people who are struggling, misunderstood or written off by the system isn’t something I fell into - it’s where I naturally belong. Seeing someone progress, shift and begin in themselves is genuinely the most rewarding part of what I do.

With over a decade of frontline experience across mainstream schools, SEN settings, PRU’s and residential environments, I’ve worked with some of the most complex and challenging people in the system. Young people with Autism, ADHD, emotional and behavioural difficulties, physical needs and everything in between. I’ve delivered 1-1 interventions, outreach sessions, coordinated with therapists and external agencies, led and trained support staff and worked directly with families to create strategies that actually work in real life - not just on paper.

My background spans roles across multiple institutions including specialist SEN settings, secondary schools and community development programmes. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Life Coaching at Level 7, a BSc in Sports Therapy and professional qualifications in safeguarding, risk management and care coordination. I bring both the academe foundation and the frontline reality that most professionals have one or the other or rarely both.

But qualifications only tell part of the story. What I actually bring to every session is rapport, honesty and a genuine belief in the capability of every young person I work with - however hidden that capability might currently be.

This is what I do. And I’m good at it.

About the lesson

Every young person I work with gets one thing from the very first session - they get heard. Not assessed, not judged, not compared. Just heard.

One of the biggest mistakes made with struggling young people is treating them like they don’t know anything. In reality they are capable, intelligent individuals who haven’t been approached in the right way. I don’t talk down to the people I work with. I talk with them - as the capable person they already are. That shift alone changes everything.

My approach is entirely bespoke. We begin with relaxed, honest conversation. From there we build goals together - creating direction the young person actually buys into. I’m calming but direct. Firm when it matters, fair always and young enough at heart to keep things engaging and productive.

Rapport isn’t something I work on - it’s something that happens naturally. I work online and in person, adapting to whatever works best for you. Whether your young person is excluded, struggling, disengaged or simply not reaching their potential- the first step is a conversation.
