About the lesson

I always taught college students but have also tutored Middle and High School students. I have worked too with very young children teaching them Spanish here, in Houston. For every level, I have different resources. With young children, I play. With older students, I search for motivation. A lot of students do not like to read, I read personally with them and search their answers and ideas over the text we are reading. I love to appeal to the Socratic maieutics method, in which the student is guided through his own thoughts and answers in a progressive and logical way. It works!
I am dynamic, enthusiast and I love what I do so I want it to be projected in my work.

About Isabel

I am a retired Titular Professor with extensive experience (32 years) teaching Spanish language and literature at Universidad Simón Bolívar, in Caracas, Venezuela. I cannot say hoe many students I taught but I have even had the children of my first students.
In my subjects, I have worked with oral tradition, tales, legends and myths; popular religion, mythology, etc. I like to work directly with students in the reading and analysis of texts. For Spanish and language teaching, I work with newspapers, popular music, and media. I want to motivate students to learn and accept to do so and understand that working together we can achieve their goal.
Language and Literature where mandatory subjects for all freshmen students so they could continue further in their studies. I was glad to see them back with me for Literature subjects (elective courses) to finish their studies and graduate. Most of them told me they wanted to have me teaching them for their final General Studies subject. I felt very proud and pleased.

I am already tutoring and I've being told that it is a fair rate, though, if I have to tutor college students it will be a different rate. If I have to travel to far I will have to charge additionally. For webcam lessons, like Hangout, it will be $25.
