About Allen

I finished my studies of biology and English in 2010 and have been teaching both subjects since then, most of the time also as head of biology department and as class teacher for various levels and age groups so I have lots of experience. I enjoy teaching young people and pride myself on being able to establish a good relationship with most people in a fairly short time. I find this is the foundation of successful learning. Despite my professional approach towards teaching, I'm always up for a laugh and try to keep my lessons lively, interesting and relevant.

About the lesson

I've got a wide array of teaching methods so I'm sure we can find something that suits you. I have been described as a very knowledgeable and motivating biology teacher so you can expect not only good knowledge of curricular topics, I also like to add fun and facts to my lessons to make them more memorable. A lesson usually lasts about 60 min but I'm flexible.

Perfect! Allen is helping my son with gcse biology. He is very engaging and flexible with the material to cover. He always comes prepared. My son likes biology alot more than before he started lessons with Allen.

Allen has been helping my son in Year 11 with biology gcse. He is much more engaging than the class teacher and my son now likes biology rather more than he did. Allen is flexible and willing to adapt to the requirements and always comes prepared. Even though they are not in a class room Allen does bring the lessons to life very well.

Allen is on time for our sessions and well prepared. He has lots of tasks for me to practise with but also asks apparently non-related questions. He does a great job conveying the broader picture and knows lots of fun facts. I'd highly recommend him as a tutor.

He doesn't only know a lot but also has many ideas of how to help me with my biology problems. Obviously, we also practice a lot, but that too is really interesting because Allen tries to give the tasks some sort of relevance for me. It's hardly ever only reviewing facts.
I'd definitely recommend him as a biology tutor!
