  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

It all started back in 2016 when I had first heard about cryptocurrencies. It wasn't until early 2017 that I bought my first bitcoin and ethereum. I had started playing around with networks, bridging tokens and NFTs between different chains and networks just for fun. It was at that moment that I realized the potential this could have in the future. I remember learning that it was more about the freedom, the decentralization of digital assets. As I remind all my students, I am not a financial advisor, however, I can help navigate students through the world of Web3 so that they can freely interact with this fast emerging world of decentralized economics confidently AND safely.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Learning about all things Web3 and cryptocurrencies can be daunting. There's so much to learn and can feel overwhelming at times. With me as the tutor, learning about this topic is a whole lot easier because I adjust the course and material based on the students needs. No matter what level of experience the student has, from beginners to amateurs, no matter the skill set, I can help grow the student into the person they want to be. Topics include setting up accounts securely, proper safety techniques for navigating the Web3 space, and how to bridge different digital assets across a variety of chains and networks.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Role models that stand out to me are individuals like the inventor of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin. For him, decentralization is what he has worked so hard on to achieve. His level of complexity is so mind boggling, that I recommend anyone who is interested in this space to listen to him speak from either an interview of his, a podcast he's been on, or any one of his hundreds of Youtube videos from conferences and seminars.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Many qualities required of a good tutor would be; patience, communication, consistency, quick to respond/act, preparedness for the lesson, and trustworthiness. Fortunately as a tutor myself, all of my previous and current students have confirmed that I check all of those boxes and is why I'm a repeat tutor and their "go-to" for them even after they've become skilled enough to navigate the Web3 space on their own.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Helping out friends and colleagues has always been a passion of mine. This is why I started private tutoring, and... because I'm no longer in school or college to help anyone out. Back in college however, I remember taking a programming class with another student/friend of mine that didn't quite understand some of the software we were learning to use at the time. As a quick learner myself, I was able to pick it up quickly and finish the semester project with weeks to spare. During that spare time, I offered to help my friend by spending extra time learning what exactly they were having troubles with specifically. I informed them that I wasn't there to "do it for them", I was there to understand what issues they had and to guide them in the right direction. This example of my past can be seen across many different interactions I've had over the years from my previous employment using different CAD softwares, to now private tutoring for students using decentralization softwares like metamask, exchanges and network chain bridges.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

There are many difficulties and challenges that come with any new and emerging technologies. This is why I spend most of my freetime beta testing new platforms, interfaces, and applications. Navigating the world of Web3 can be very tricky to a new user, even an experienced user like myself, however, as a 5 year tester in this space I've come to learn that these challenges are what makeup who I am today. I, myself, learn from my mistakes, so that the student doesn't have to make the same mistakes.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

This question is the absolute reason why I have dedicated my expertise and time to the amazing Superprof platform. The answer is simply not "one or the other". It's both! My passion for Web3 is growing every day, and is what literally keeps me up at night.. no lie. BUT, teaching in general also keeps me motivated because helping others allows me to make a real difference in the world. Giving someone else the opportunity to become part of this growing ecosystem gives me the courage to continue learning new features and interfaces so that I can continue to teach students how to use them safely and properly.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

Dedication to my craft, and the love I have for helping others succeed in what they want to do is what makes me a Superprof. Finding my passion in this space, paired with the gift of being able to help others learn IS the absolute best thing that I've ever experienced. And I hope that anyone else who has a passion for something, and the patience and love for teaching will consider becoming a Superprof tutor themselves.
