About Kim

I'm a passionate cellist with over 20 years of playing and teaching experience. As a current member of the Salt Lake Symphony, I bring professional performance experience into every lesson — from orchestras and bands to my true love, chamber music, where string quartets and small ensembles have shaped how I hear and teach the instrument.

I welcome students from complete beginners through intermediate level, and I have a particular soft spot for adult beginners. Whether you've always dreamed of playing or are just now finding the time — it's never too late to pick up the cello, and I'd love to help you start that journey.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored to the individual — whether it is a child taking their first steps with the instrument, a student looking to strengthen their school orchestra playing, or an adult picking up the cello for the first time.

A typical lesson covers technique and posture, scales and exercises, and repertoire — real pieces that make practice rewarding. Students always have a say in the music they work on, because motivation and enjoyment are just as important as technique.

Good fundamentals are at the heart of everything I teach. Building solid habits early — bow hold, posture, and tone production — sets every student up for long-term progress and confidence, whether they're playing in a school orchestra or simply playing for the love of it.

Lessons are held at my home in Murray/Holladay area, with flexible lesson lengths to suit each student's age and stage of learning.
