About Nahele

I am a dedicated and experienced educator with a strong foundation in teaching and literacy development. OISE Graduate, Specializing in Kindergarten: My training at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) focused on early childhood education, equipping me with specialized skills to foster foundational learning in young students. Certified Teacher: From 2014 to 2022, I worked with the Toronto District School Board, teaching elementary students across various grade levels and gaining extensive classroom experience. Extra Training for Students with Disabilities: I’ve pursued additional academic credits to better support students with diverse learning needs, ensuring every child has the tools to succeed. Private School Educator: During the pandemic, I operated my own private school, where I delivered personalized instruction tailored to each student’s unique challenges and goals. My Approach as a Tutor

I focus on building a strong foundation in the English language, starting with a thorough understanding of phonics. My teaching emphasizes:

Mastery of Phonics: Helping students understand the relationship between letters and sounds, including blending, segmenting, and decoding words.
Sound Patterns and Rules: Teaching the phonetic rules and exceptions that form the backbone of English, enabling students to tackle new and challenging words independently.
Interactive Learning: Using games, visual aids, and hands-on activities to make phonics and reading engaging and memorable.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Warm-Up Activity (5-10 minutes): Quick exercises to review prior lessons, such as sound recognition or sight words, or to assess the student’s readiness to learn.
Phonics and Word Sounds (20-30 minutes):
Identifying and practicing individual letter sounds and blends (e.g., digraphs like "sh" or "ch").
Learning word patterns, such as short and long vowels, consonant blends, and silent letters.
Breaking down challenging words into manageable parts for easy reading and spelling.
Practice and Application (15-20 minutes): Guided reading, where students apply what they’ve learned in books or passages at their level.
Wrap-Up and Feedback (5-10 minutes): Reviewing key points, celebrating successes, and setting clear goals for the next session.
