About Nyasha
I graduated from Drake University with a B.A. and B.S. in Rhetorical and Biochemistry respectively with two minors in Chemistry and Biology. I have experience teaching both science and rhetorical communication; I have been giving lessons for about two years now and have tutored about 70 students. I've represented my alma mater at national academic conferences and I've been awarded 'Top Senior Communications student' and an exemplary senior student award.

For science, my approach will vary depending on the level of comfort and competence of my students with their academic material; most often, I begin with an assessment that is intended to gauge my student's knowledge and their ability to apply it. Then I focus on the areas which the student hasn't yet completely understood. If my student isn't yet very confident in the subject they're learning, I like to couple the assessment with a broad overview of related topics to provide a strong foundation and to increase their understanding of the topic. After this stage, I then work through the topic with them, regularly posing questions that engage their knowledge and I provide exercises with which they can demonstrate this knowledge. I try to involve different methods of sensory engagement for students who prefer visual, audible learning or a mix of both!
