About John
I'm a qualified chemist and Monash University graduate with a passion for making science and math accessible and engaging. Over the years, I've worked in both the food and mining industries as a laboratory technician, and I bring that real-world experience into every lesson I teach. I’ve also spent time working as a teacher’s aide and supporting children with disabilities, so I understand how to be patient, adaptable, and supportive of individual learning needs. Whether you're struggling with equations or preparing for your exams, I aim to create a calm, encouraging learning environment where you can build confidence and improve at your own pace. Outside of teaching, I enjoy outdoor adventures, woodworking, and exploring practical ways to connect science with everyday life.

Hi, I'm a Monash University chemistry graduate with hands-on experience working in both the food and mining industries. I offer tutoring in chemistry, general science, mathematics, and statistics, tailored to high school and early university-level students.
My goal is to make challenging concepts easier to understand by linking them to real-world applications — whether it's chemical reactions in brewing, quality testing in food production, or mineral analysis in mining labs. I also draw on my experience supporting students in classroom settings, so I'm patient, clear, and adaptable to different learning styles.
Whether you're preparing for exams, catching up on coursework, or just need a confidence boost, I’m here to help you build a solid understanding and enjoy the process along the way.
Available for online sessions or in-person tutoring around the Hobart area.
